Pruning summer flowers
Make use of the first frost-free days to heavily prune back bushes and shrubs that flower in summer. Do not wait too long: Since their flowers only grow on fresh, one-year shoots, pruning early in the season will ensure a wonderful show of flowers in the summer.
Preventing frost damage
Winter sun after a frosty night is beautiful. Unfortunately, not for the bark of your fruit trees. This can split easily due to the warm rays of the sun and so be more vulnerable to diseases. Help your trees and apply a coat of white tree trunk paint at temperatures of over 0 °C. Best of all, a biological one based on lime that you can mix for yourself with water and wallpaper paste. Or you can buy our ecological tree trunk paint.
Planting winter flowers
Make use of frost-free December days to quickly plant a few more winter flowers. For example, heather and colourful flowering cabbage. Jasmine is ideally suited for covering a bare wall so that you can enjoy the luminous colours in winter as well. Just don't forget to "tame" the pliant shoots by tying them up so that they do not grow everywhere.
Do not walk on the lawn
You know it already: If somebody walks on the lawn in winter, you will see the traces until the spring. The reason: The water in the leaf cells of the grass freezes if it becomes really cold. The grass stalks become brittle, they kink if they are bent, and turn yellow. For that reason: In winter, walk around your lawn and not across it.
